MediaTek showcases AI-powered smartphone imaging

The fabless semiconductor major highlighted next-generation AI-powered smartphone imaging technologies and reinforced its One MediaTek strategy, showcasing advancements across smartphones, automotive, AI computing and edge-to-cloud platforms while bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of mobile photography.

 

 

MediaTek showcased its latest advancements in smartphone imaging and reaffirmed its broader technology strategy at its flagship MediaTek Tech Day, themed “Beyond the Lens,” held in New Delhi on July 17. The event highlighted how the company’s latest system-on-chip (SoC) technologies are enabling flagship smartphone imaging experiences while reinforcing its One MediaTek vision spanning smartphones, automotive, AI PCs, data centres and intelligent edge devices.

The event brought together media representatives, technology analysts, professional photographers, key opinion leaders (KOLs) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, including Vivo, Motorola and Xiaomi, to discuss emerging trends in imaging technology and the evolving edge-to-cloud ecosystem.

Showcasing next-generation imaging capabilities

Speaking at the event, Anuj Sidharth, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communications, India and Southeast Asia, MediaTek, highlighted several imaging innovations, including 18EV HDR Fusion technology for enhanced dynamic range and 4K120 Super EIS for smoother, cinematic video capture. He also outlined the company’s latest brand developments and MediaTek’s continued momentum in high-performance computing across India’s expanding multi-device ecosystem.

The event featured dedicated experience zones where attendees explored MediaTek’s latest imaging capabilities through smartphones powered by its newest chipsets. Devices on display included the vivo X300 Pro powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, the OPPO Find X9s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, and the Motorola Edge 70 Pro and Xiaomi 17T powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500.

Industry experts discuss the future of smartphone photography

A key highlight of the event was an interactive panel discussion titled “Who Really Takes the Photo?”, moderated by Rajiv Makhni. The session featured Rahul Jhangiani, professional photographer; Anuj Sidharth, Director, Marketing and Corporate Communications, MediaTek India & SEA; Paigham Danish, CTO, Head of Product & GTM, vivo India; Gautam Batra, Associate Director – Product Marketing, Xiaomi India; and Shivam Ranjan, Marketing Director – APAC, Motorola Mobility.

The discussion explored the respective roles of imaging hardware, image signal processors (ISPs) and human creativity in producing high-quality photographs. Panelists agreed that advanced camera sensors, AI-powered image processing and the photographer’s perspective collectively contribute to delivering superior imaging experiences.

 

 

Reinforcing One MediaTek strategy

During the event, MediaTek also outlined its latest technology roadmap, showcasing its flagship and premium Dimensity 9500s, Dimensity 9500 and Dimensity 8500 chipsets, designed to deliver advancements in artificial intelligence, imaging, gaming, connectivity and power efficiency.

The company reiterated its One MediaTek strategy, highlighting its expansion beyond smartphones into automotive, AI computing, data centres and other connected technologies. As part of this strategy, MediaTek has streamlined its product portfolio under the Dimensity brand, with Dimensity for smartphones, Dimensity AX for automotive applications and Dimensity CX for compute platforms.

MediaTek also highlighted its growing presence in the automotive segment, with more than 20 partnerships with global automakers and over 190 active projects under the Dimensity AX platform. The company further showcased its investments in AI compute platforms and next-generation computing technologies while outlining its broader roadmap covering smartphones, connectivity, imaging, AI computing and intelligent edge devices.

Leadership in India’s smartphone chipset market

MediaTek said it continues to lead India’s smartphone chipset market, holding a 49% market share in the second quarter of 2026. According to the company, this marks its 24th consecutive quarter as the country’s leading smartphone chipset brand.

The company said MediaTek Tech Day serves as an interactive platform to demonstrate technologies that enhance everyday digital experiences, with this year’s “Beyond the Lens” edition reflecting its focus on advancing imaging innovation while expanding intelligent connectivity across a broader technology ecosystem.
