Exclusive: Coca-Cola fairlife hack claimed by Anubis ransomware

Late last week, the company revealed that its fairlife dairy subsidiary had been breached, leading to operations being stunted. Fairlife is a producer of protein shakes, nutrition drinks and ultra-filtered milk products.

While Coca-Cola and fairlife said that product quality and safety were not affected, production operations within the US for fairlife had been temporarily suspended.

Now, the Anubis ransomware gang has listed fairlife on its dark web leak site and is threatening to leak company data.

“Why cause a public scene and lose millions in downtime? We are offering you a simple, confidential business solution,” Anubis said.

“A token agreement is all it takes to have your systems fully operational again within hours.”

While Anubis provided no proof of having exfiltrated data, it said that it had stolen 1 terabyte of “confidential” data from the company.

“We sincerely hope your executive team has the strategic sense to prevent this data from leaking online,” the threat actor said.

“Be smart and give the people back their milk, damn it! The timer is ticking. You have until the end of the week.”

Anubis said it will publish the data in just over six days at the time of writing.

Neither fairlife nor its parent company, Coca-Cola, has provided an update on the incident; however, the incident has impacted its shares, with stock falling around 4 per cent last week.

Fairlife is a major growing business for Coca-Cola, having generated roughly US$4 billion in revenue in 2024. However, Coca-Cola itself generated US$12.5 billion in the first quarter of the financial year alone, meaning it can survive without its fairlife profits.

Last year, a pair of threat actors claimed cyber attacks on two Coca-Cola partners – Middle Eastern bottling partner, the Coca-Cola AI Ahlia Beverages Company in Dubai, and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.
