Samsung unveils AI-powered Health Assistant

Today Samsung has announced the Health Assistant, which it bills as the “first fully integrated AI-powered personal health assistant”. It is now available in beta for eligible US users of Samsung Health.

Samsung promises that the Health Assistant will help you achieve your health and wellness goals by combining important health data with insights that empower you to ask questions about your health and “gain access to rich, personalized health guidance and recommendations”.

Health Assistant connects your health information from Samsung Health’s “five pillars of wellness” – sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness, and vitals – and transforms the data into “meaningful, actionable insights, while explaining how each variable impacts the others”.

It will identify patterns and signals you may otherwise miss, and provide “high quality recommendations that have been validated by a team of physicians and certified health coaches”.

In the future, Health Assistant will “explore coaching to help users achieve their goals through behavior change and a wider set of services available in Samsung Health, such as weight management”. It will also use the Personal Data Engine as context to provide “highly personalized responses that are sensitive to a user’s schedule and preferences”.

Dr. Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of Samsung’s Digital Health team, said:

Our new Health Assistant advances Samsung’s vision for Connected Care by giving users a deeper understanding of their mind and body through daily health monitoring and increasing opportunities for early detection. By leveraging our ecosystem and partnerships, we aim to deliver a holistic understanding of health and drive real action, helping users build healthier habits and bringing real change to their lives.
