Galaxy A27 5G is selling for KES 15,500 cheaper than Samsung’s official price

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy A27 5G in Kenya just a few days ago, announcing a recommended retail price (RRP) of KES 41,300 for the 4GB/64GB model and KES 52,500 for the 8GB/256GB variant.

If those prices made you pause, you’ll be glad to know there’s already a much better deal available.

I’ve been tracking the Galaxy A27 5G since its European debut and later spotted it arriving in Kenya through unofficial channels before Samsung’s local launch. At the time, the 8GB/256GB model was already selling for around KES 47,000. That alone undercut Samsung’s eventual asking price.

Now things have become even more interesting.

Phone Zone Kenya, one of Nairobi’s popular smartphone retailers, is currently selling the top-tier Galaxy A27 5G (8GB RAM + 256GB storage) for just KES 37,000. That’s a massive KES 15,500 less than Samsung’s official RRP for exactly the same configuration. Even better, the retailer is including a 2-year warranty.

That’s significant because one of the biggest concerns many buyers have when purchasing phones outside official Samsung stores is warranty coverage. In this case, you’re paying substantially less while still getting peace of mind.

If you’ve followed Kenya’s smartphone market for a while, this probably isn’t surprising. Most Kenyans don’t necessarily buy their phones from official brand stores. Instead, they turn to trusted independent retailers, which often offer lower prices thanks to different supply channels and thinner margins.

At KES 37,000, I honestly think this is where the Galaxy A27 5G should have been priced from the very beginning. It makes the phone far more competitive against rivals from Xiaomi/Redmi, TECNO, Infinix, realme, HONOR and OPPO in the same price bracket.

The Galaxy A series is getting ridiculously expensive with every release. But the good thing with Android phones is the price depreciates quite fast, although that’s not guaranteed given the memory shortage situation.

(Un)Fortunately, Phone Zone Kenya currently only has the 8GB/256GB model in stock. Had the base 4GB/64GB version been available, I wouldn’t dare recommend it unless it was priced even more aggressively, perhaps closer to KES 20,000. But at KES 41,300 for 4/64GB, I suggest you look elsewhere. There are better phones and deals out there at such a price.

Whether Samsung’s official retail partners eventually lower their prices to match what independent retailers are charging remains to be seen. For now, though, if you’re planning to buy the Galaxy A27 5G in Kenya, KES 37,000 for the 8GB/256GB model with a 2-year warranty is arguably the best deal you’ll find today.
