AT&T will let you preorder the Galaxy Z Fold 8 for free with trade-in – what to know

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8

On Wednesday at its Unpacked event in London, Samsung revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 8, its latest flagship foldable device, alongside the Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8. If you have a phone to trade in, AT&T will give you up to $1,900 off the new Fold 8 — paying the full price of the new phone.

The Z Fold 8 weighs just 201 grams, making it the lightest Z Fold yet — about the size of a passport. The cover screen has a 10:16 aspect ratio, designed for messaging, social updates, and quicker actions, while the unfolded main display has a 4:3 ratio for watching videos and gaming.

As with carrier deals, this AT&T deal has some caveats. For one, your trade-in device needs to be worth at least $290 to be eligible. You’ll also need to sign up for an AT&T Premium 2.0 plan or higher, starting at $100 per month plus taxes and fees. You’ll be reimbursed the $1,900 in bill credits over 36 months. If you cancel your service, the credits will stop, and you’ll need to pay the remaining balance on the device. Paying off the device early may also stop the credits.
