Having access to a 3D printer means you’re always looking for little life hacks to improve the space around you. While many of us have printed gadgets for functional areas like the kitchen and bathroom, there are plenty of models you can print for the bedroom too.

No-slip bed sheet lock

Solve one of life’s little frustrations

Don’t you hate it when the bed sheets slip off your mattress? You’re not alone. This “problem” has a surprisingly high number of 3D-printed solutions, utilizing a locking mechanism that slips underneath the mattress and on top of the sheet to keep the bed sheet in place.

The no-slip bed sheet lock (and its XXL version) are among the most popular models on MakerWorld, but you can also use a model like GripFix or the imaginatively named fitted sheet holder (among others). I recommend reading the reviews before picking one, since I’ve seen some reviewers say that other models can cause sheets to tear on account of sharp edges. You’ll also want to pick a color that blends in!

A safe place to drop your phone at night

Do you ever drop your phone while doomscrolling in bed only to have to pick it off the floor or fish around the back of the mattress to find it? A bedside storage box can solve the problem and store other handy items like TV remotes, glasses, and anything else you might need during the night or immediately after waking up.

This neat little hook-on storage box should be compatible with most bed frames, or alternatively you can customize the bedside organizer to fit your frame on account of it being a parametric model.

You’ve probably seen those very expensive bed cooling systems advertised on social media. Though they appear to work well, they can cost thousands of dollars, which makes them hard to justify. Alternatively, you can cool under the sheets for the cost of 1.3KG of filament, a $25 4-inch duct fan, and a 5lb barbell weight.

The Bed Rocket, now on its third revision, is an under-sheet cooling system that blasts a stream of air between the top sheet and the mattress. In total, it will likely cost you around $50 and two days of printing time. I wasn’t convinced until I read the reviews, and people genuinely seem to love it. One reviewer even recommends scaling the print up 150% and buying a 6-inch fan for greater airflow.

Display and find them easily

I’m not much of a hat guy, but the few I have get lost on an overcrowded coat stand, which makes it hard to even remember what I own. The wall-mounted hat holder solves this problem with an efficient space-saving design and room for four individual hats.

Print in a color of your choice so that it blends in whenever a space is visible, then stick it on a wall or the back of a door and mount it with two screws using the holes provided. Need more storage space? Print a few more and mount them alongside.

Boring but useful

My belts (all two of them) end up in a drawer, coiled into a tight roll. This isn’t ideal, but it’s the best solution I’ve found—until now, at least. I’m sure you can buy belt hangers in places like IKEA, but I’d never spend actual money on one. I’m far more likely to 3D print my own for less than 30g of filament, though.
