Marvel’s Wolverine: Insomniac’s game makes a new appearance at Comic-Con

Marvel’s Wolverine will release on September 15, 2026, exclusively for PS5, delivering an adventure crafted by Insomniac Games around Logan, Jean Grey, Lady Deathstrike, and The Hand. Trailer, story, cast, prequel, and soundtrack: here’s everything you need to know about Sony’s next action game.

Logan’s claws are back in action! Marvel’s Wolverine, the action-adventure title from Insomniac Games exclusive to PS5 and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, used San Diego Comic-Con 2026 to unveil a brand-new trailer centered on its story, less than two months ahead of its planned release on September 15, 2026. The new footage features Wolverine squaring off against several iconic Marvel adversaries, including Jean Grey, Lady Deathstrike, and The Hand, while offering a deeper glimpse at a darker-toned adventure.

The project was born at Insomniac Games during the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man. As explained by Ryan Schneider, Franchise Director, Strategy & Studio Relations at Insomniac Games, it is “an independent game“, developed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, both of whom previously worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. And to add: “In the wake of our Spider-Man games, our goal here isn’t just to live up to what makes the character so popular, but also to look for chances to make it original and to reflect the spirit of Insomniac“.

The studio aims to deliver a standalone adventure that sets itself apart from the Spider-Man lineup, while preserving its narrative approach and appetite for spectacular combat. Liam McIntyre lends his voice and likeness to Logan, while Krizia Bajos voices Jean Grey. The story follows Wolverine on an international quest sparked by the search for kidnapped young mutants, punctuated by encounters with familiar Marvel figures, including Mystique, Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike.

Trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine:

This new video features a tense face-off between a particularly aggressive Logan and Jean Grey (in a version of the Phoenix?). It also confirms the presence of The Hand, the ninja-led criminal organization that will be among the game’s main enemy factions. Insomniac Games notes that Wolverine shares a past with this group, with details to be revealed as the adventure unfolds. Lady Deathstrike also appears in the trailer, hinting at direct and brutal clashes that extend the darker tone teased since the first footage.

Expect swift, brutal skirmishes, with Logan’s adamantium claws at the heart of the action. The hero will journey through several regions, including Madripoor, a fictional island known for its crime-smeared notoriety. The narrative will also delve into his relationships with Jean Grey and the former members of the Team X. That chapter of his past will unfold in a digital comic serving as a prequel to the game, written by Walt Williams, narrative director at Insomniac Games, and drawn by Luke Ross, with a cover by Iban Coello.

A soundtrack composed by David Fleming

The score for Marvel’s Wolverine has been entrusted to David Fleming, a composer known for his work across film, television, and video games. Insomniac Games announces an evolving soundtrack that can adapt to combat and the different stages of Logan’s journey. The complete original soundtrack will be released on August 28, 2026, a few weeks before the game’s launch.

Marvel’s Wolverine will be released on September 15, 2026 for PS5. Players can already add it to their wishlist and pre-order the standard edition or the digital deluxe edition on the PlayStation Store. From Logan’s past to his ties with Team X and his upcoming clash with The Hand, this new adventure should reveal a more personal side of the adamantium-clawed mutant. We can’t wait!
