Top tech firms urge U.S. government not to limit ‘open’ AI models

SAN FRANCISCO — Top American tech firms including Microsoft, Meta and Nvidia warned the U.S. government on Friday not to restrict certain forms of artificial intelligence.

Although China went unmentioned in the open letter signed by 25 tech firms, it staked out a position that would benefit Chinese AI companies some voices in Silicon Valley and the Trump administration argue should be penalized by U.S. policy.
