Echoes of Aincrad Becomes Second Most Successful Sword Art Online Game on Steam
The new RPG Echoes of Aincrad in the Sword Art Online universe reached a peak online player count of 19,901 on Steam, second only to Fatal Bullet and significantly surpassing recent installments in the series.
In recent years, interest in the Sword Art Online franchise has significantly declined. While the series was dormant, the attention of anime and game fans shifted to new hits, including Solo Leveling. However, Bandai Namco did not abandon the brand and released a new RPG in the universe — Echoes of Aincrad.
It seems the developers managed to regain audience interest. Echoes of Aincrad’s peak online player count on Steam yesterday reached 19,901. This was not enough to set a new series record, but the result significantly surpassed the performance of recent installments.
The top three most popular Sword Art Online games by peak online players on Steam are as follows:
- Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet — 21,727 players;
- Echoes of Aincrad — 19,901 players;
- Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream — 12,290 players.
Such a start can be considered a good sign for the entire franchise. If player interest persists, Echoes of Aincrad could become one of the most successful games in the series.
