Sony restores PlayStation Network after global outage

Sony has restored the PlayStation Network (PSN) after a global outage on July 24 left many players unable to sign in, play online, or launch some digital games. While the service is working again, the company still has not explained what caused the outage.
The problem affected several PlayStation Network services, including account management, online multiplayer, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Direct. Players using PS5, PS4, PS3, and PS Vita reported login failures, server errors, and trouble accessing digital content.

Sony confirmed the outage on its official PlayStation Network status page and said it was working to fix the problem. Reports of the outage quickly spread across social media and Downdetector as more players shared their experiences. The status page now (09:00 AM GMT, June 25, 2026) shows that all PlayStation Network services are running normally.
The outage also stopped some players from opening digitally purchased games. Because the consoles could not verify game licenses while PSN was offline, some installed games would not launch. Games that require an online license check were affected the most.
Among those especially affected were players waiting to try the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls open beta. The game is set to launch in early August.
The outage happened around the same time Amazon Web Services (AWS) reported networking issues in its US-West-2 region. Sony has not confirmed that the two incidents were connected, and the company has not shared any details about the cause of the outage.
Sony has not revealed if affected users are set to receive any compensation, either.
