Quaise Energy Series B Funding: $134M for Superhot Geothermal and Project Obsidian – News and Statistics

Quaise Energy has completed the first close of its Series B financing round, securing $134 million to speed up the development of its superhot geothermal technology and Project Obsidian, which is described as the world’s first commercial superhot geothermal power plant.

According to a report from TradeArabia News Service, the funding round was led by Prelude Ventures. Strategic investments came from Japanese energy companies JERA and Idemitsu, and nearly all existing investors, including Safar Partners, also participated.

With this latest financing, Quaise’s total funding raised now stands at $230 million. The company plans to use the capital to advance its millimeter wave drilling system, a technology originally developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This system is designed to access geothermal resources at depths exceeding five kilometers and temperatures between 300 and 500 degrees Celsius.

Quaise is also pursuing project-level financing and commercial partnerships as it moves toward generating its first revenues. The company’s technology is intended to unlock high-density geothermal energy on a global scale.
