FNCS Major 2 Heats Conclude With 23 Kill Win
This weekend, we’ve seen the FNCS Major 2 heats take place. Happening in a condensed format as part of a year which has seen the FNCS shrunk down to just two Majors. This is the last shot at making it to the LAN through with a major. The LCQ is happening just hours after the Major wraps up too. So, the finals will likely cast a long shadow over those tournaments too. Plus the EWC Fortnite event later this month.
There’s only a week between the Heats and the Finals, so these are a fantastic measure of how players are looking for the conclusion. Are the same big named still on top of things?
The FNCS Major 2 Heats are still very competitive tournaments. They’ve played in a set lobby, with the top performing Fortnite platers from each region grouped together. Only the single top 100 move forward to the finals. Which is decided by both placement, and Victory Royales.
FNCS Major 2 Heats
The FNCS Major 2 Heats are a set of games where the winner goes through to the Grand Finals. Plus, the most consistent teams at the end of the session. It’s a weird format which means the top Duos throw games to get more practise in. Something only alluded to in the official broadcast, where players will sloppily damage to fall damage despite their incredible skills at the game.
The Heats divide the player base into multiple lobbies too. With the winning teams leaving, it leaves POIs open. It means players get a bit more opportunity to claim the top spots compared to the finals. But all these issues clearly wasn’t a problem for one Duo over the weekend. Who have sailed through to the finals off an incredible kill count. This is how the FNCS Major 2 Heats went:
T3eny and Shxrk Win Heats with 23 Kill Win
The FNCS Major 2 heats will be interesting in every region, but in EU it’s been particularly fun. the very first heat saw one Duo absolutely run away with it. Achieving some incredible total kill counts in a specific game.
The biggest regions each get three different heats. The smaller ones get two. This does mean the best Duos are spread a little thinner for the heats. But we can still see some players fall behind and others begin to dominate. The current Fortnite meta is going to play quite differently, and T3eny and Shxrk will be a top Duo to watch.
These two took part in the first Heat. Where they came second in the first game, with 3 kills. This first game was won by Th0masHD and Focus, so no harm in losing to some of the best. In Game 2, they were still very exciting.
The Duo got 10 kills on the board and another second place. Which in a tournament that makes winners sit out is the best position for a lot of Duos. Third was a bit rougher for placement with 23rd in the FNCS Major 2 Heats. But by Game 4 they were on a real roll. 18 kills, 2nd place. Then, in Game 5 they got 23 kills. And the win. A staggering result.
Heats are always a little easier than the other lobbies, but those last two games are a ridiculous precedence. Some of the best Fortnite players in the world were active in these lobbies. This huge win is going to mark these two as among the most important Duos to keep an eye on for the FNCS Major 2 finals.
The FNCS Major 2 Heats in EU and NAC
That was how the FNCS Major 2 Heats played out for T3eny and Shxrk. But what about the other Heats? There were two more that happened in EU and three in NAC. but no one really stood out as much as those two.
Elsewhere in Europe, we also saw MariusCow and Fredoxie win the second heat. But they didn’t really blow up in the same way, having a few low kill count games. Twek and Mydro won the third heat, but it was also a lot closer than the first one.
In NAC, there were strong performances in Heat 1 but it was a generally close tournament. More of the big-name players were in Heat 2 and 3. Acorn and Boltz had a decent run in the second Heat. Major players like Peterbot, pollo, Clix, Bugha, and Khanada were all playing in Heat 3 though. Which will prove an entertaining finale before we move through to the finals.
