A new alliance with Tokyo startup Highlanders aims to scale up production and address labor shortages on assembly lines.
According to Kyodo News, Mitsubishi Motors plans to produce 1,000 AI humanoid robots each month by the end of 2027.
Mitsubishi Motors Corp. has set an ambitious plan: to manufacture one thousand humanoid robots with artificial intelligence each month by the end of 2027.
The company has joined forces with the Tokyo-based startup Highlanders Inc to develop and mass-produce humanoid robots equipped with artificial intelligence.
The partnership aims to leverage Mitsubishi’s manufacturing capacity to create robots in collaboration with Highlanders Inc., as two-legged robots are seen as one of the ways to address the workforce shortage.
Plans and Partnership
The goal is to integrate humanoid robots into the engine production line at the Kyoto plant and gather data needed to develop and mass-produce AI-powered robots that specialize in automobile manufacturing.
Currently, Highlanders is developing general-purpose robots, with components sourced from domestic suppliers.
