Forever Skies Gets The Final Echoes Update Alongside Xbox Release
The first-person post-apocalyptic world that is Forever Skies has introduced the last of The Final Echoes updates. Whether you’ve been waiting for each update in the series to release to play it in full, or you’ve been dipping in and out between patches, this update brings the Echoes Series together into a complete package for fans to enjoy.
Forever Skies is an action-survival game taking place on Earth hundreds of years in the future, where the planet has been overrun by a global ecological disaster. The consequences of this event mean the surface of the planet has been covered in a blanket of toxic dust, but there’s more than meets the eye, especially when you delve below the dust.
Forever Skies has been launching its updates in installments, with each patch focusing on new content and quality-of-life improvements. The first Echoes Series update rolled out back in November 2025, and this final drop puts a bow on this chain of updates.
Even though starting a new save isn’t required to play this major update, the developers recommend starting a new save in order to get the full experience. However, a quest has been added to existing saves that’s designed to teach those loading back into existing saves the basics of the new content.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the key features that have arrived with the Forever Skies: The Final Echoes update.
Airship Maintenance
The third and last of The Final Echoes updates includes updates to the airship. First up is the addition of an airship electricity system that you can now use to power your base using generators. As you expand your airship and deploy new technology, you will need to generate more power to use devices and keep home operations running.
Similarly, airship damage has been overhauled to have more consequences. Failing to manage your airship’s power or getting hit by lightning storms while unprotected poses the risk of your airship being destroyed and losing your devices along the way.
New Threats in Unfamiliar Places
The Forever Skies update also brings a new enemy in the form of drones. These drones were once friendly, but will now attack as you scavenge points of interest. There are the traditional flying drones, as well as ground-based adaptations, so you’ll have to keep your head on a swivel while you’re out exploring and searching for items.
Speaking of points of interest, Forever Skies now has even more new locations and landmarks. The Radio Towers in the nature biome have received visual updates, while three fresh landmarks, such as Thunderhead Terminal, have joined the game.
New and returning players also have six additional side quests to embark on, rewarding you with useful items, technology, and decor upon completion. A highly-requested custom difficulty mode has arrived, too, which allows you to adjust various key features such as hunger management, energy management, the amount of health enemies wield, and so much more.
Although the patch is named The Final Echoes update, this marks the final installment of the Echoes series of updates, and doesn’t mean this is the final game update.
Alongside The Final Echoes update, Forever Skies has launched on Xbox Series X|S and is available as a Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition. Purchasing a copy of the Deluxe Edition grants you the Forever Skies Supporter Pack, containing the following in-game items:
