Pakistan’s Online Degree Verification System Moves Closer to Launch

Pakistan is moving closer to launching a nationwide online degree verification system after the Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Software Export Board signed an agreement to integrate HEC’s credential-verification services with PSEB’s upcoming national digital workforce platform.

The integration will allow academic qualifications of students and professionals to be verified digitally, helping employers access authenticated education records and reducing reliance on manual verification processes.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen links between universities and the technology industry while improving the employability of graduates seeking opportunities in Pakistan and overseas.

HEC Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar and PSEB Chief Executive Officer Faisal Jeddy attended the signing ceremony alongside senior officials from both organizations.

Under the agreement, the platform will create Pakistan’s first national verified digital talent repository, containing authenticated profiles of students and IT professionals. Employers will be able to use the system to identify verified candidates for recruitment and talent-matching purposes.

Officials said the platform would improve transparency, credibility, and trust across workforce-development programs by ensuring that academic credentials connected to digital profiles have been formally authenticated.

The repository is also expected to support international hiring by giving overseas employers access to a trusted pool of Pakistani technology professionals with verified qualifications.

The collaboration forms part of the government’s wider digital-transformation agenda, with a focus on skills development, employment opportunities, and the creation of a more integrated, data-driven workforce ecosystem.
