S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl Cost Of Hope Expansion Out August 20 Alongside Update 2.0
GSC Game World has announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl‘s Cost of Hope expansion will launch on August 20, day-and-date with the Update 2.0.
Cost of Hope sees plays once again hopping into the role of Skif, as he is drawn into a new events via a mysterious PDA that run alongside the game’s main campaign. Here, players will be able to explore new locations and brush shoulders with new enemies and allies, and unearth powerful new weapons. Cost of Hope promises to deliver “dozens of hours of content,” and your choices will impact the future of the Zone in what is described as a “major new chapter of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. saga.”
Meanwhile, Update 2.0 will upgrade the game to Unreal Engine 5 and introduces a bunch of new content and improvements. More details are going to be shared by GSC Game World in the coming weeks.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was originally release for the PC and Xbox Series X/S in November 2024, and sees players following a lone stalker in the midst of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The area has been altered considerably since a second explosion in 2006, and the location is presented here as an seamless open world spanning 64-km², with players encountering branching paths along the way that impact the game’s narrative direction. The radioactive zone is full of mutated creatures that you must fend off, which are unpredictable in nature and follow unique behaviour models.
