Swiss startup AI Infrastructure Capital AG launches with €16 million to tackle AI compute bottleneck

AI Infrastructure Capital AG, a newly founded Swiss company that buys servers, runs them at sites with renewable power and rents the capacity out on long-term contracts, is launching with a recently closed funding round of around €16 million.

Valyou investment foundation in Rapperswil is the round’s anchor investor, with its managing director Yonten Wagma joining the company’s board. The fourth member of the board is entrepreneur Fabian Villiger, also from Rapperswil.

“Artificial intelligence tends to get discussed as something abstract. Underneath it is a very concrete question: are there enough servers, and are they in the right place? We make sure there are more of them,” said Cédric Waldburger, founder of AI Infrastructure Capital AG. 

Based in Pfäffikon and founded in June 2026 by Waldburger and Roald Parmentier, AI Infrastructure Capital AG owns and rents out compute for artificial intelligence. It buys enterprise NVIDIA GPU servers outright, installs them on renewable power, and puts them to work under long-term contracts. 

Cédric Waldburger is an entrepreneur and investor. He invests in early-stage technology companies through his venture capital firm Tomahawk.VC. Roald Parmentier comes from data centre operations and hardware procurement. 

“Using ChatGPT, Claude or any other AI tool feels like talking to something without a body. In fact, every single request runs on a physical server that sits somewhere, draws power and has to be cooled. There are too few of these servers, and they are the real bottleneck for the entire industry,” the company mentioned in the press release. 

AI Infrastructure Capital AG claims to tackle this bottleneck. The Swiss company is using the capital to buy servers built on NVIDIA chips, runs them in Iceland on renewable power, and has already rented out the compute on long-term contracts.

The firm highlights that Iceland was a deliberate choice. It notes that the power there comes entirely from renewable sources, and the cool outdoor air does much of the cooling that must be generated expensively elsewhere. 

According to the firm, this keeps operating costs down permanently and makes the operation considerably more climate-friendly than at conventional sites such as Frankfurt or Dublin.

“Location and cooling decide whether the operation makes economic sense. In Iceland, renewable power comes together with cold outside air. Over the life of the machines, that is a structural advantage,” said Roald Parmentier, co-founder of AI Infrastructure Capital AG.
