Vodafone unveils global cybersecurity centre in Portugal
Vodafone has launched its new Global Cyber Centre (GCC) in Lisbon, Portugal.
In a bid to strengthen the telecoms giant’s ability to defend its networks, systems and customers against world-wide cyber attacks, the new centre will bring together cybersecurity specialists from across the group to help prevent, detect and respond to attacks as they become more sophisticated and frequent.

By expanding its global cyber capabilities, the company aims to protect customer data, maintain resilient networks and ensure the secure delivery of its services worldwide, the company stated.
As a result, the Lisbon GCC will join Vodafone’s existing global cybersecurity centres in the UK, Germany, Romania and India. Around 40 specialist roles will be created initially, with recruitment already underway and expected to continue throughout the year.
Alongside this, company is recruiting experienced professionals in cybersecurity, engineering, emerging technologies and digital transformation, while also creating opportunities for existing Vodafone employees through career development and re-skilling programmes.
AI will also be a main focus for the firm with the GCC supporting the company develop new tools to tackle further cyber attacks.
