Day 2 of the MLBB MSC 2026 Knockout Stage was full of surprises as two high-stakes rematches were done on the international stage. A new era of MLBB is starting with western teams having the best performances by far in the history of MLBB esports.
Team Vamos’ Gamble Didn’t Pay Off
Team Vamos entered Day 2 with a key advantage. After recording the shortest total game time in the Group Stage, they earned the right to pick first on who their opponents will be among the survivors of lower brackets in both groups. Confident from their earlier 2-0 victory, they selected Team Spirit. Believing history would repeat itself.
Instead, it became the turning point of their elimination from the tournament.
From the very first game, Team Spirit looked like a completely different squad from their performance in the group stage. The hesitation from their group stage match was completely gone, replaced by a confident yet calm approach. Every draft from Team Vamos was read and countered and you can see that the difference in preparation was immediately clear.
At the center of this redemption were Kidbomba and zauregoist, who delivered standout performances throughout the series unlike their performance in the group stage. Their impact turned every team fight into a favorable exchange for Team Spirit.
Meanwhile, Team Vamos found themselves with no answers throughout the entire series. As the games went on, they struggled to regain momentum, showing no signs of life as Team Spirit continued their rampage during the series. What was expected to be a close rematch quickly turned into a one-sided one.
Team Spirit completed a dominant 3-0 sweep, flipping the script from their Group Stage loss and readies themselves to attain a higher placement from their previous international runs.
For Team Vamos, the decision to pick Team Spirit will go down as one of the biggest mistakes of their runs, with a gamble that ultimately cost them the tournament.
ONIC Outlast Aurora Gaming in A Full Five-Game Series
The second series of the day delivered everything fans could hope for. ONIC and Aurora Gaming faced off in another rematch, this time meeting by circumstance after the selection phase due to them being the last teams left for picking.
Aurora Gaming started strong, once again showcasing their confidence with a Luo Yi pick. Their execution was sharp with Rosa using Luo Yi’s mass teleport to great positioning, but it was Tienzy who stole the spotlight early with a standout performance on Hirara, dictating the pace of the game and helping Aurora secure the opening game.
ONIC quickly answered back by putting Kelra on one of his signature Granger picks, unlocking a more aggressive and map-active playstyle. With the entire squad moving in sync, ONIC were able to even the series and shift momentum in their favor.
From there, the match turned into a true back-and-forth battle. Both teams traded blows, each securing crucial wins to push the series all the way to a decisive Game 5. Every draft adjustment and team fight carried weight, as neither side was willing to give an inch.
In the end, it came down to ONIC’s star player Kairi stepping up in the final game with a Fanny performance that will never be forgotten.
Flying across the map with more precision and speed than his previous Fanny performances, he dismantled Aurora Gaming’s chances of coming back, securing the win for ONIC. It was definitely a reminder for everyone that the Sky King is back.
ONIC closed out the series 3-2, eliminating Aurora Gaming in one of the most intense matchups of the tournament so far.
