Zoho launches Classes 2.0 AI-powered academic LMS with AI Tutor, AI Course Builder, multilingual support

Zoho has announced Zoho Classes 2.0, an AI-powered academic learning management system (LMS) built in India for educational institutions worldwide. The platform combines teaching, learning, student lifecycle management, and institutional administration on a single platform with AI tools, multilingual support, and institutional intelligence.

Zoho Classes 2.0: AI-powered teaching, learning, and administration

Zoho Classes 2.0 introduces three key additions:

  • AI tools across the learning experience
  • Student engagement features
  • Institutional intelligence

The platform also supports all 22 scheduled Indian languages, enabling AI-generated course content, assessments, and learning resources to be delivered in students’ preferred language.

For teachers, the AI Course Builder can generate a structured course from a syllabus, lesson plan, or topic in under 30 seconds. It automatically creates video lesson outlines, reading materials, assignments with rubrics, adaptive practice tests, and maps them to Course Outcomes (CO) and Programme Outcomes (PO).

Teachers can also:

  • Schedule course releases
  • Lock content until required
  • Enable in-video note-taking
  • Access more than 100,000 curriculum templates
  • Support flipped classroom models, allowing students to study course materials before class

Students can access a 24/7 AI Tutor, along with microlearning modules, interactive activities, and gamified learning experiences.

For institutions, Zoho Classes 2.0 includes:

  • Student lifecycle management from enrollment through course completion
  • AI tools to identify students who may require additional support
  • Institutional intelligence with insights into student outcomes, engagement trends, and operational performance
  • A Low-Code Micro App Builder for creating custom applications for admissions, lesson planning, syllabus management, and other academic workflows without requiring coding expertise
Built for Indian education

Zoho said it is working with government education bodies in India to expand digital education initiatives for out-of-school students, government polytechnic colleges, and large state education networks. The platform supports deployments ranging from individual classrooms to statewide education systems through centralized administration, content distribution, student engagement, and reporting.

The platform also supports:

  • All 22 scheduled Indian languages
  • NAAC, NBA, UGC, and NMC accreditation requirements
  • Key objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020
  • Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) workflows aligned with National Medical Commission requirements, including competency tracking, clinical log management, OSPE, OSCE, assessments, and audit-ready documentation

Built on Zoho’s technology stack, the platform supports data residency in India and complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.

Existing adoption

According to Zoho, the platform has:

  • Delivered more than 8 million notifications
  • Supported over 1 million assignment submissions
  • Enabled more than 100,000 minutes of learning content consumption
  • Hosted over 2TB of teacher-created video content

Zoho Classes is currently used by SRM Institute, Sishya School, Chettinad Health City, CGIHM, Vidya Mandir, Grace International School, and GSE Institute, along with government education bodies and large-scale education initiatives.

Availability

Zoho Classes 2.0 is currently available in India, with availability in other global markets planned over the coming months. The global rollout will include regional capabilities tailored to local education requirements.

In India, Zoho is making the platform available at no product licensing cost to all Central and State Government schools, colleges, and universities. Individual teachers with up to 100 students can also use the platform free of charge.

Speaking on the launch, Mani Vembu, CEO of Zoho, said:

Education shapes how societies learn, adapt, and grow, making it one of the most important areas where technology can have a lasting impact. Every education system is unique, and technology should be built around local needs and diverse learning environments. This belief has shaped Zoho Classes into a platform designed to adapt to the diverse students and education systems it supports.

We believe access to modern educational technology should never be limited by an institution’s resources. As part of our commitment to democratizing access, Zoho Classes is being made available at no product licensing cost to Central and State Government schools, colleges, and universities across India. We hope this helps more institutions use technology to improve learning outcomes and expand educational opportunities.
