Space industry networking event to showcase pioneering technology

A space industry networking event is heading to the South East.

Space South Central, a UK Space Agency regional cluster, will host its Orbit South Central event in Newhaven for the first time on Wednesday, July 15.

The event will be held at Surrey NanoSystems, Newhaven.

Dan Smith, business development manager at Space South Central, said: “Currently, not every part of the UK is covered by a UK Space Agency regional space cluster, and it’s important to us to connect innovative, inspiring businesses with potential clients and collaborations – which is what Orbit South Central events are all about!

Surrey NanoSystems, a University of Surrey spin-out, is known for developing Vantablack—one of the darkest substances ever made.

The material absorbs up to 99.965 per cent of visible light and is used in aerospace and automotive applications.

Visitors to the July event will be able to tour the facility and hear from company speakers about Vantablack and the firm’s new Ansys Speos capability.
