Free Bayboro shred event aims to curb identity theft, offers secure document disposal

BAYBORO, Pamlico County — Pamlico County residents will have a chance to safely get rid of old documents during a free shred event in Bayboro.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to noon.

It will be held at 202 Main Street in Bayboro behind the courthouse.

Residents can bring personal documents, old statements, financial records, tax documents, medical records, credit card offers and more.

Organizers say the event is meant to help residents protect their personal information and reduce the risk of identity theft.

There is a limit of three boxes per household or 75 pounds.

Businesses and commercial shredding will not be accepted.

No appointment is needed.

Residents can drive up and drop off their documents for secure shredding.
