I Updated Motionly: A free, lightweight, AI-assisted motion graphics editor that runs right in your browser.

The video above was created from a Motionly project written with help from an AI assistant.

I'm building Motionly, an open-source motion graphics editor that lets AI help create editable animation projects instead of just generating a final video.

The idea is simple: AI creates the first draft, then you open it in Motionly and refine it visually. You can move elements, adjust timing, edit animations, tweak properties, and export the final result.

Everything stays as a readable .motion project file that updates as you edit, making the workflow easier for both humans and AI to work with.

Current features:

  • AI-assisted project generation (bring your own API key)
  • Visual canvas editor
  • Timeline editing and preview
  • Drag, scale, and property controls
  • Animation presets
  • Asset and media support
  • Local project saving
  • MP4 export

I'm currently improving the editor, animation quality, media workflow, and exporting.

Would love feedback from anyone interested in motion design, creative coding, AI tools, or open-source projects. If you want to test it, contribute, or suggest features, I’d really appreciate it.
