8BitDo Opens Pre-Orders for FlipPad
At the end of July, 8BitDo plans to start shipping FlipPad – a gamepad for smartphones, equipped with a hinge reminiscent of classic flip phones from the 90s.
8BitDo has opened pre-orders for a specialized smartphone controller called FlipPad. It is currently available for purchase at $29.99 (2339 rubles).
It wraps around the bottom of the phone, turning it into a device for basic emulation. In addition to the standard layout of main buttons and a D-pad, gamers get L1/R1 and L2/R2, placed on the front panel and acting as “bumpers” and “triggers.”
The model is equipped with a USB-C connector that plugs into the smartphone’s port. The FlipPad features a hinge reminiscent of classic flip phones from the 90s and is rated for over 6,000 open and close cycles. The USB-C connector is rated for over 10,000 connection cycles.
The 8BitDo FlipPad weighs 31.5 grams and is compatible with both iOS (version 16.2 and above) and Android (version 13 and above).
The new product has dimensions of 96.5 × 29 × 102.5 mm. Shipments of the 8BitDo FlipPad are expected to begin on July 30–31, 2026. Two color options are available: black and G Classic.
