3 new to Paramount+ movies you need to stream this weekend (July 17-19)
Paramount+ is an excellent streaming service for building your next movie marathon. It adds dozens of movies to the platform each month. It just added 70 new movies and shows on July 1. Many of these are beloved classics or more modern hits. A few times a month, you even get brand-new movies from Paramount Skydance studios.
This week, I’ve selected a new movie that recently got its streaming debut on Paramount +. But let’s start first, with a few older movies worth watching. “Hacksaw Ridge” is a World War II movie that is supremely underrated. Check it out, then watch the 1980s classic “The Untouchables.” It features a loaded cast with incredible performances. Finally, “Wardriver” has only been on Paramount+ for a few days now, so chances are you haven’t watched this crime thriller yet. So make sure to give it a shot this weekend.

‘Hacksaw Ridge’ (2016)
Genre: Biographical epic war movie
What’s it about? Based on the 2004 documentary The Conscientious Objector,” this movie stars Andrew Garfield as Desmond Doss. As a Seventh-day Adventist, Doss refused to wield a weapon during World War II, opting instead to serve as a combat medic.
Why you should watch it: Say what you will about Mel Gibson as a person, but he can certainly direct a movie. So I have to recommend still checking this movie out for artistic reasons. It’s also worth seeing the portrayal of Doss’s incredible story, which sees him become the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

‘The Untouchables’ (1987)
Genre: Crime movie
What’s it about: “The Untouchables” is loosely based on the true story of the fall of Chicago gangster Al Capone (Robert De Niro). Set in 1930, it stars Kevin Costner as Bureau of Prohibition agent Eliot Ness, who forms a team willing to stand up to the notorious criminal and bring him to justice.
Why you should watch it: You can’t accuse this movie of not having a flair for the dramatic. It definitely is willing to give the Hollywood treatment to the story of Capone’s arrest and imprisonment for tax evasion. But you won’t be complaining after watching the performances from Costner, De Niro and Sean Connery. The latter won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Officer Jimmy Malone.

‘Wardriver’
Genre: Crime thriller movie
What’s it about? “Wardriver” stars Dane DeHaan as Cole, a hacker. After getting caught up in a cyber heist, he’s lured into a deadly game of cat and mouse. If he’s not careful, a botched line of code could see him dead.
Why you should watch it: This one is complicated. On the one hand, it got rave reviews from critics. It’s currently rated 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. But audiences were far less kind, scoring it just 57% fresh. You’ll need to stream it this weekend to see who is right.
