Surprise Solo Leveling movie is a “continuation” of the series as anime’s cinema takeover continues
The newly-announced Solo Leveling: Beyond the System movie will be a “continuation” of Jinwoo’s story, not a standalone, non-canon adventure.
As confirmed at Anime Expo 2026, we’re not getting Solo Leveling season 3. Not yet, anyway.
Instead, Beyond the System is going to be a fully-fledged feature that acts as a follow-up to the second season of the hit anime.
A concept video has been released, showcasing real-world locations and Jinwoo aura farming as he gets ready for his next battle. You can watch that for yourself above.
As for what Beyond the System might cover, we anticipate it’s going all-in on the Double Dungeon arc from the manhwa. While we won’t get into spoiler territory here, it revolves around Jinwoo’s return to his System-breaking origins, where he learns hidden truths about the secrets that lie within.
Solo Leveling: Beyond the System marks the latest foray into cinema for some of anime’s most prominent names. Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer have already broken box office records and expectations with its big-screen outings, while we wouldn’t be surprised if more follow suit in the coming months and years.
While Beyond the System remains undated, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi previously said at a FYC Emmys Q&A that he would wait until the 2028 Olympics for the next instalment of Solo Leveling to be released.
We can wait a few years. Besides, if the stream of Crunchyroll records it’s broken already is any indication, there will be plenty of anticipation for Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. In that case, we might have another major anime cinema hit on our hands.
