Albuquerque-based cybersecurity company to more than double workforce in expansion
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque-based cybersecurity company, Securin, is doubling down on their investment in the city, adding nearly 100 high-wage tech jobs with some help from the state. The expansion highlights the growing cyber defense industry in New Mexico, and state leaders hope it’s a draw for young professionals. “I think it’s really exciting that we have a local New Mexico company, founded by a regent at New Mexico Tech, growing, expanding, and competing worldwide,” EDNM Cabinet Secretary Rob Black said.

Just a couple of years old, Securin has 37 employees today, but will soon add 93 positions, each with a $71,000 salary. “We have a great workforce being trained locally at New Mexico Tech, at UNM,” Black said. “The company is using local interns for their workforce training program. So it’s a great pathway for opportunity.”
Pouring in hundreds of thousands of dollars into the expansion, New Mexico’s Economic Development Department said it’s an example of the state’s work to keep young professionals from moving away, and recruit others from out of state. “It’s a great opportunity for kids, and because they are hiring interns to have that pipeline from either high school or college into a local company,” EDNM Regional Representative Beth Waldrip said. “We want to retain employees here, grow the workforce, and provide opportunities for New Mexicans.”
The state funding will be used to help get the company operational in a new place, with Securin moving from a 3,000 square foot space in Uptown to a 13,000 square foot office in the North Valley. That’s more than quadruple their current space.
“They’ve had continued success, and they grew out of their space,” Waldrip said. “We did go visit the company, and it was very crowded. There were four people in a small room. So this expansion is well needed.”
Employees are already packing up to relocate to that new office, which they’re hoping to move into by October. The State and the City of Albuquerque are both contributing Local Economic Development Act, or LEDA, funds to the project, including $250,000 from the state and $100,000 from the city.
