Pakistan Mobile ARPU Hits Record Rs346 on Data Monetization
Pakistan’s mobile operators are extracting more from every user than ever before, and the latest numbers make that plain. Average revenue per user, known as ARPU, climbed to an all-time high of Rs 346 a month during the January to March 2026 quarter. So even as economic pressure squeezes household budgets, the amount each subscriber hands operators keeps rising.
The growth is brisk by any measure. ARPU rose from Rs 326 in the previous quarter, a jump of about 6.1% in just three months. Compared with a year earlier, when it sat at Rs 312, the figure is up nearly 11%. That kind of annual climb outpaces ordinary subscriber growth, which points to something deeper than more people simply signing up.
Operators are monetizing mobile internet aggressively, pushing premium digital services and leaning on heavier data consumption per user. As raw subscriber numbers slow, squeezing more value from each existing customer becomes the obvious path to growth. So the record ARPU reflects strategy as much as demand.
The longer trend shows how steady this has been: ARPU has risen from Rs244 in the April to June 2023 quarter to Rs346 now, a climb of more than 40% across roughly three years. That trajectory underlines how thoroughly the sector has pivoted toward data and digital services to keep revenues moving upward.
A stronger per-user revenue improves operators’ ability to finance network expansion, including fiber rollout and next-generation infrastructure. Better networks would benefit everyone, from remote-working freelancers to businesses building online. However, operators still wrestle with rising operational costs and heavy taxation, which push them to monetize harder. For ordinary users, that means the record ARPU is partly a story about paying more, not just consuming more.
