On Thursday, July 23, 2026, app version v9.0 began rolling out for the stock Android “Clock” app, primarily used on Google Pixel devices.
Although no official announcement has been made regarding the contents of this Android Clock app v9.0 update, an “app teardown” confirmed that it adds support for “Live Updates” (Live Information) introduced in Android 16. This feature is being deployed alongside the Android Clock app v9.0 update.
Please note that the “Live Updates” setting in the Android Clock app is enabled by default.
With “Live Updates” in the Android Clock app, time-sensitive, ongoing notifications are expected to be displayed in the status bar and on the lock screen.
