IPV leads pre-seed round in space-tech startup BAAS Technologies
Space-tech startup BAAS Technologies has raised Rs 5 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures, with participation from SINE IIT Bombay and a group of private angel investors.
The proceeds will be utilized for R&D on liquid and solid propulsion systems, building a static test facility and manufacturing infrastructure, procuring equipment and raw materials, and expanding the engineering and operations team, BAAS Technologies said in a press release.
Co-founded in 2024 by Tanmay Kanmahale, Prashant Patil, Atharva Pingale, Swayam Sonar, and Shriniwas Hase, BAAS Technologies is a space-tech company developing reusable sub-orbital and orbital launch vehicles. The company specializes in indigenous rocket propulsion systems, launch vehicle development, and affordable launch solutions for commercial, research, and government customers.
The Pune-based startup says it designs and develops its own solid and liquid rocket propulsion systems. Its upcoming 100 kN Rocket Propulsion Testing Facility will support static fire testing, engine validation, and commercialization as BAAS moves to its next stage of growth.
According to market research, India’s domestic satellite launch services market is expected to grow from $399 million in 2025 to $1.58 billion by 2033, at a CAGR of 18.2%.
The startup says it has already completed paid pilot programs in India and is now expanding commercially into Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
