Don’t Blink, you’re on camera!
By now, I think most Aussies are familiar with Amazon’s Ring products, the popular video doorbells and security cameras. They’re not badly priced, which is what makes them popular in my opinion, but guess what, you can get something cheaper and just as good.
Enter the Blink range. And this is an Amazon brand as well, with a growing catalogue of doorbells and security cameras too. Sadly, though, there’s no getting away from a subscription service if you want to take full advantage of all the features the very affordable Blink cameras offer (just like Ring), but given their low initial cost, it can still be justified. Plus, there’s no putting a price on your home’s and family’s safety.
In better news, though, a wide range of Blink cameras are already steeply discounted — up to 85% off — with prices from just AU$24 in early Prime Day deals. Just take a look, many of these offers also get you a freebie.

Don’t brush this one aside
I’ve been using the Oral-B Genius 9000 since 2016 and it’s now beginning to be a bit worse for wear. It’s still got legs, mind, but it’s time for an upgrade. And I’ve had my eye on the Oral-B iO series for yonks.
And now that the iO 6 has dropped to a price that I paid to get the Genius 9000, I’ve dropped it into my cart. It’s a very good oscillating brush, which means it spins and can be harsh for some users, but you don’t have issues with bleeding gums, I’d recommend it. It’s a smarter brush than my older one and I do like the black colour compared to the white.

Wrap this up real quick
Given how expensive the latest Dyson Airwrap i.d. is, you might as well get yourself the older model, especially since the Airwrap Origin is now down to less than AU$400.
The problem with the Origin is that you don’t get all the attachments, but the basics are supplied. You’ll get the 40mm barrel to add waves and curls, but you’ll also get a brush and a condenser. So if you want to coif your hair to perfection without spending too much money on a premium Dyson, this is the deal for you.
Dyson Airwrap Origin: AU$649 now AU$398
Glass is better than non-stick coating
I recently broke up with my Philips Series 5000 Dual Basket Air Fryer with Steam because the non-stick coating in its bigger basket was coming off. So I went with the Ninja Crispi Pro, which was down to an all-time low price but has since gone out of stock, although the smaller and more compact Ninja Crispi is still available at a record-low proce.
You’ll get two borosilicate dishes, which are your baskets, and with lids too. So you can safely chuck ’em in the dishwasher or serve food directly in them. You can also use them to store leftovers in the fridge. Honestly, glass is so much safer.
So if you need a new air fryer this Prime Day, I would highly recommend the Ninja Crispi.

A soundbar for your desk?
Let’s face it, the built-in speakers in your laptop and monitor just doesn’t sound great, and I’m sure you’ve been tempted to upgrade to proper speakers for your desk.
Bookshelf speakers are usually my go-to over those smaller ones we’ve grown up with, but they can take precious desk real estate — so that setup may not work for everyone.
But what if you can add a soundbar underneath your monitor, just like your TV in the living room? Thankfully, you can with BlueAnt’s Soundblade under-monitor soundbar. It has 120W power for rich audio and deep bass, and there are plenty of connectivity options like Bluetooth or a 3.5mm Aux jack. BlueAnt is also an Australian company, if that’s something important to you.
The best part is it’s discounted by a whopping 69% off to just AU$94 for Prime Day!

Slush, please! The frozen drink maker everyone’s chasing
The Ninja Slushi has been one of the most sought-after kitchen gadgets since its launch and, while the ardour has dimmed somewhat, it’s still a popular machine any time of the year it gets a good discount. Like right now.
There’s a reason for its popularity — it turns liquids into smooth frozen drinks without ice, using RapidChill technology to create slushies, frappes, milkshakes, and even frozen cocktails.
As we said in our Ninja Slushi review:
The Ninja Slushi is a unique machine perfect for those who love to entertain. It has a tall, heavy build and a straightforward control panel that lets you easily create frozen drinks, including a spiked slush, milkshake, and frappe. The results are quick — sometimes in as little as 15 minutes — tasting delicious and never watered down, but didn’t always have the best texture. Even with a few quirks, the Slushi is in a category of its own, making it worth the high price tag.
If that sounds appealing then don’t delay, as I fear this deal might sell out soon, just like the Ninja Creami Deluxe did.

Beat the Nintendo Switch 2 price hike
Every single game console is seeing a price hike. If it hasn’t already happened, it’s happening soon and the one coming up next is the Nintendo Switch 2 going to AU$769 from September 1.
Buying this popular handheld console for AU$624 right now is the best way for gamers to beat inflation, so you definitely don’t want to ponder this one. It’s in no way the best price on the Switch 2, but if you don’t pick it up now, chances are you’ll regret it later this year.

One of the best coffee machines of the year
You’re not short of options when deciding on a coffee machine for your home — just take a look at all of the Prime Day coffee machine deals on sale right now as proof — but none of them are as easy to master, nor as affordable or just downright cool as the Philips Baristina.
And it’s now received a 30% discount for Prime Day, making what was already a budget-friendly option even more favourable on the wallet.
The Baristina can only brew a 40ml espresso or a 110ml lungo (along with pouring hot water), so it is a little limited compared to some other machines, but it handles the entire process for you. Just place the portafilter into its slot and press the brew button and watch as a show unfolds before your eyes.
The machine will grind and tamp your beans for you, and the portafilter will even automatically move over to its brewing position. Once it’s done, it even releases by itself to make cleaning as easy as possible.
Our review deemed it to be a “seriously impressive” machine in her Philips Baristina review, although noted that the lack of grind setting adjustments lets it down slightly. It also doesn’t have any way to froth milk, but a colour-matching Baristina milk frother is also available.

The best Prime Day deals are free
Who doesn’t love a freebie?
There isn’t just one free thing to enjoy, but three, depending on your personal preference for reading or listening. You can sign up for one, or two or, heck, why not all three?! After all, freebies!
You can get Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited and Audible for free right now — or rather with extended free trials if you’re a new or returning customer. You get three months free of Kindle Unlimited and Audible, but Music Unlimited is arguably better value with four months free and includes audiobooks too.
That’s a lot of reading and listening if you ask me. I’ve already signed up for Kindle Unlimited and am enjoying the Bill Bryson-edited Seeing Further: The Story of Science and the Royal Society (yeah, I’m a history and science nerd).
Audible: three months free, then AU$8.99/m
Amazon Kindle Unlimited: three months free, then AU$13.99/m
Amazon Music Unlimited: four months free, then AU$13.99/m
Firstly, to the thousands of readers who joined me for my coverage of the best Prime Day deals this year, thank you! I hope you found my coverage useful and you were able to buy whatever it was you were looking for. And, if not, perhaps I helped you find something you didn’t realise you wanted.
As you know, this is your last and final call to pick up these amazing Prime Day deals, many of which are at record-low prices. You’ve already missed some of them, like the deep discounts on Apple products (the AirPods Pro 3, Apple Watch SE 3 and the Apple Watch 11), but there are still plenty more where those came from, just from other brands.
And while you might think my coverage will end tonight, you couldn’t be far from the truth. If I’ve learnt anything covering Amazon sales since 2018 is that the deals just don’t disappear once the sale officially ends — some offers linger. So I’ll be here tomorrow as well to highlight anything still worth buying.
