Today, Xbox Game Pass added a Metroidvania game
Microsoft started the week with a new game in Xbox Game Pass. Winds of Arcana: Ruination, a Metroidvania game previously released on PC, is now available on the subscription service and Xbox consoles.
Winds of Arcana: Ruination was released in November 2025 on PC by Brewed Games studio. It is a 2.5D Metroidvania where the player controls Aren, a warrior and mage exploring a ruined world with dangerous enemies, mysteries, and companions in need of rescue.
The project received positive reviews for its detailed locations and diverse world. Players highlight the combat system, which combines melee and magic, as well as the ability to customize playstyle through weapon upgrades and the “Herbs of Souls” system. The game features a map with a Mind’s Eye function, allowing players to take screenshots and leave notes to return to important points.
At launch, the PC version faced technical issues. These included incorrect boss hitboxes, character passing through textures, an overpowered Chakram that simplified battles, as well as not always convenient controls in platforming sections and an uneven narrative pace.
The game is now available on Xbox Game Pass.
