Alex Garland’s Elden Ring Movie Has Wrapped Production, Reveals Prop Artist

Sean Schofield, a prop manufacturer working on A24’s Elden Ring movie, has revealed on his Instagram account that filming for the Alex Garland-directed fantasy film has wrapped.

A photo uploaded by Schofield appears to show a wrap gift and thank-you note to the cast and crew signed by Garland, as well as producers Allon Reich, Matthew Penry-Davey, Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Charlie Reed. “Dream job to end all dream jobs,” he wrote. “6 solid months of blood, sweat and tears making the coolest stuff ever, working alongside the best of the best. Can’t share anything else for a very long time, but I couldn’t be more proud of what we did.”

The Elden Ring movie is set to release in cinemas in March 2028, so we’ve still got a bit of a wait on our hands to see it. The cast includes Kit Connor (Warfare, Heartstopper), Ben Wishaw (Skyfall), Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), Tom Burke (Black Bag), and Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms) among others.

The New Yorker revealed in August last year that Garland was able to gain Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki’s approval as director by providing the game designer with a 160-page draft. He also flew out to Japan to pitch it to Miyazaki-san himself armed with 40 additional pages of imagery. Garland is reportedly a massive fan of Elden Ring, so it’s unsurprising he went to such lengths to direct the movie adaptation.

Elden Ring was released for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in February 2022. You can read our full review here.
