TUM and CISPA strengthen Munich startup ecosystem together
The CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security and the Technische Universität München (TUM) are expanding their cooperation to include central topics of technology transfer and startup promotion. Following already successful research collaboration, both partners now want to specifically take steps toward innovation and business creation. The goal is to convert research results from the fields of cybersecurity and trustworthy artificial intelligence into market-ready applications and startups. In doing so, they want to sustainably strengthen the Munich startup ecosystem together.
The focus is on building a strong transfer presence for CISPA in Munich. Together with TUM and its partner organizations, structures are to be created that translate scientific knowledge into economic and social impact more quickly. With key players such as UnternehmerTUM and the TUM Venture Labs Munich offers optimal conditions with its innovation landscape, the close integration of science and business, and support from political initiatives.
CISPA strengthens presence in Munich
With the new initiative, CISPA is now anchoring its activities more firmly in Munich and is focusing on expanding cooperation with regional partners. The city is to become a central location for collaborative research and transfer projects.
Michael Backes, founding director and CEO of CISPA, explains:

TUM also sees the expanded cooperation with CISPA as an important opportunity to further expand Munich’s innovation power.

The cooperation between CISPA and TUM creates another building block in the Munich innovation ecosystem, which closely links research, entrepreneurship, and technology. Another step to establish Munich as a leading European location for cybersecurity research and trustworthy AI.
