Microsoft is increasing the price of all Xbox Series console models.
Microsoft announced price increases for Xbox Series gaming consoles in the US, Europe, the UK, and Japan. The manufacturer previously announced plans to change pricing for devices outside the US market, after which the new prices went into effect. In the US, the Xbox Series S 512GB model has increased in price from $399.99 to $499.99, while the 1TB version has increased from $449.99 to $599.99. The Xbox Series X 1TB Digital gaming system now costs $749.99, up from $599.99, while the version with a 1TB Disc drive has increased in price from $649.99 to $799.99.
Console prices in Europe also increased significantly. Prices changed as follows:
- US: Xbox Series S 512GB – $499.99 (was $399.99), Xbox Series S 1TB – $599.99 (was $449.99), Xbox Series X 1TB Digital – $749.99 (was $599.99), Xbox Series X 1TB Disc – $799.99 (was $649.99)
- Europe: Xbox Series S 512GB — €499.99 (was €349.99), Xbox Series S 1TB — €599.99 (was €399.99), Xbox Series X 1TB Digital — €749.99 (was €549.99), Xbox Series X 1TB Disc — €799.99 (was €599.99)
- UK: Xbox Series S 512GB – £429.99 (was £299.99), Xbox Series S 1TB – £519.99 (was £349.99), Xbox Series X 1TB Digital – £619.99 (was £449.99), Xbox Series X 1TB Disc – £669.99 (was £499.99)
- Japan: Xbox Series X 1TB Disc – ¥117,980 (was ¥87,980), Xbox Series X 1TB Digital – ¥109,980 (was ¥79,980), Xbox Series S 1TB – ¥97,480 (was ¥67,480)
According to sources, even after the current price increase, Microsoft continues to lose approximately $150 on each game console sold. The main reason for this decision is the company’s lack of long-term contracts for RAM and SSDs at lower fixed prices than its competitors. As a result, the increased cost of components forced the manufacturer to adjust retail prices for end customers.
