Asylon to Advance Autonomous Aircraft Inspections for US Air Force 

Asylon has secured a contract from the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex to further develop and demonstrate an autonomous aircraft inspection system designed to support US Air Force maintenance operations.

Known as Multi-modal Autonomous Robotics for Inspection of Aircraft (MARIA), the system combines aerial and ground robots to perform general visual inspections of military aircraft with limited human intervention.

The project aims to make routine inspections faster and more consistent while reducing the workload and safety risks associated with manual inspection tasks.

If successful, the project could support broader adoption of autonomous inspection technologies across US Air Force maintenance operations.

Aircraft Maintenance

Under the contract, Asylon will integrate its Guardian small unmanned aerial system, DroneDog quadruped unmanned ground vehicle, Range autonomy software, and DroneIQ command-and-control platform into the MARIA system.

Inspection results are delivered through a single interface for maintenance personnel.

MARIA collects images, three-dimensional scans of the aircraft’s surface, data on the robots’ positions and performance, and other operational information.

Maintainers can review findings using both conventional inspection workflows and 3D digital models.

Backed by New Investment

The award follows Asylon’s $24 million Series B funding round announced last year.

Led by Insight Partners, the financing also included participation from Veteran Ventures Capital, Allegion Ventures, and the GO PA Fund. 

According to the company, the funding is being used to expand its engineering, operations, and commercial teams while accelerating development of its autonomous robotics technologies.

It also aims to scale deployments across critical infrastructure, logistics, and commercial sectors.
