Bethesda Confirms Fallout 5 Is Now In Preproduction On Creation Engine 3

Bethesda Game Studios has revealed during a post on X that preproduction of Fallout 5 is currently underway and will utilise the Creation Engine 3.

Our teams are now developing The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 on Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform we’ve been building since Starfield’s launch. It allows our teams to support multiple projects simultaneously with new tools, rendering, and systems that define our games,” said the developer. It added, “Fallout 5 is currently in preproduction.”

At this point we can assume Fallout 5 is still years away from release, as it won’t be out until after The Elder Scrolls VI. And, while Bethesda said that the fantasy-RPG is its ‘primary development focus‘ right now, there’s still no release date for The Elder Scrolls VI and it could still be two to three years off.

Back in 2024, Todd Howard told MrMattyPlays that Bethesda had no plans to rush any future instalments in the Fallout franchise, and in December last year revealed that Fallout 5 would be “existing in a world where the stories and events of the show happened or are happening.”
