Coinbase’s Base Nears Launch of Tokenized Stock Service
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network Base is nearing the launch of a tokenized stock service backed 1:1 by underlying shares.
Cointelegraph reported on July 21 that Base creator Jesse Pollak wrote on X that the service is in its final stages and will be launched soon. He was responding to a question from Garrett Scrobbina, head of fintech at Razer Technologies, about the timeline for Base’s 1:1-backed stock tokenization product.
In the same post, Pollak acknowledged that Robinhood Chain, a recently launched Ethereum layer-2 network, had moved first to implement stock tokenization in the EVM ecosystem. Base had fallen behind in that area, he wrote.
Base has recently been shifting from a social-focused strategy toward financial applications. Pollak previously said focusing on creator, content and messaging apps had been a mistake. Base is now prioritizing trading, payments, AI agents and tokenized assets as its core businesses.
