Dying Light The Beast Is No Longer Coming To PS4 And Xbox One

Techland has announced that it will no longer bring Dying Light: The Beast to PS4 and Xbox One.

Speaking in a post on the official Dying Light X account, the studio noted that Sony and Microsoft’s last-generation consoles “simply cannot provide” the necessary horsepower for the game’s open world, visuals, and fluid combat — all of which take advantage of current-generation hardware’s processing power and memory.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision that Dying Light: The Beast will no longer be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Dying Light: The Beast was built from the ground up to take full advantage of current-generation hardware. Its open world, advanced visuals, and fluid combat and traversal all depend on processing power and memory that previous-generation consoles simply cannot provide. As development progressed, it became clear that bringing the game to those platforms would require compromises that would prevent us from delivering the experience we set out to create.

This was not a matter of choosing to leave those platforms behind. Rather, it reflected the technical realities of development and our commitment to delivering the best possible experience.

Dying Light The Beast was released in September 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S , and you can read our full review here.

During Light: The Beast takes place in Caster Woods in the Western Alps, which has been overrun by zombies. Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the original Dying Light, returns as the main character after being subjected to 13 years of torture and experimentation, with his DNA now a mix of volatile and human. The game’s open world is ripe for exploration using Kane’s parkour skills, and is also able to wield superhuman abilities, including transforming into Beast Mode, which allows him to duff up bad guys using his bare hands.
