Funding boosts workforce training as MCC expands advanced tech center and optics lab

Rochester, N.Y. — Monroe Community College received a financial boost to expand learning and career opportunities.

Congressman Joe Morelle announced $850,000 in federal funding for the college.

The money, which is designed to elevate Rochester’s leading role in workforce training, will be pumped into the school’s Advanced Technology Education Center and build a new precision optics lab.

“It will expand hand-on training opportunities and equip learners with critical skills, including optical coding processes that support everyday technologies from advanced manufacturing to semi-conductor production,” said DR. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna, president, Monroe Community College.

Thursday’s announcement included an optics demonstration.
