Glamsterdam upgrade is pushing Ethereum toward a future where scaling comes from better coordination, not more fragmentation.
Two major improvements stand out:
1. ePBS (EIP-7732) brings proposer builder separation into Ethereum itself.
Today, block building relies on external middleware such as MEV Boost, creating additional trust assumptions between proposers, builders, and relays.
ePBS moves this coordination into the protocol:
• proposer and builder roles become protocol native
• builder payments become trustless
• larger execution payloads become possible through longer propagation windows
• reliance on third party relays is reduced
2. Block Level Access Lists (BALs, EIP-7928) prepare Ethereum for parallel processing.
By mapping transaction dependencies before execution, Ethereum can identify which transactions can safely run in parallel instead of processing everything sequentially.
Together with state repricing improvements, Glamsterdam creates the foundation for:
• higher gas limits
• more sustainable state growth
• greater blob capacity
• lower DA cost pressure for rollups(use L1 DA)
We can see the bigger picture:
Ethereum is not scaling by creating more isolated execution islands. It is becoming a stronger coordination layer for a growing ecosystem of specialized execution environments.
