How to Make Your Steam Wishlist Private

Valve’s platform, Steam, is easily the most famous one across PC as a whole. For those who are just getting started on their journey to videogame collection, the wishlist is one of the most important elements to keep track of the best games that you’ll want to purchase, and even receive unique notifications whenever they enter significant discounts.
That said, not everyone wants their wishlists to be public for everyone to see; whether it’s because of being shy about receiving gifts or wanting to wishlist NSFW titles, there are plenty of reasons you might not want it to be visible for everyone. Thankfully, Steam has a way to hide the wishlist from everyone, making it possible to add any number of depraved titles to the list.
To make the wishlist private, you’ll need to be on your Steam account, preferably through the client. Then, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to your Steam username (beside COMMUNITY at the top) and select the second option from the hamburger menu, titled “Profile”.
- Select the Edit Profile button in the top right, below your featured badge and Steam Level.
- Go to the Privacy Settings option in the right-hand hamburger menu.
- Set “Game details” to “Private”.

Unfortunately, there is no individual way to set only the wishlist to Private at the moment, as Steam has not offered the opportunity to do so individually. There are three options for the “Game details” option, which include Public, Friends Only, and Private, and setting it to Private is the only way to make wishlisted games private overall.
If you want to make part of your wishlist available for the purpose of receiving gifts, you can create a Steam Wishlist Collection, which will allow you to send a specific link that only shares the content in that Collection. You can learn more about Collections in our guide right here.
