ID: pretty blue stuff that I shattered in my hood

i’m curious if anyone has any guesses as to what kind of suspension/solution this could be. not a lot to go off of, but basically we’re doing lab cleanup today and we had something stored in the freezer that was unlabelled. all we know is that it came from another lab at my university (classic). anyway i was trying to rinse it out of the round bottom and naturally i dropped it and shattered it, staining my hood blue. it was a really cool mix of metallic blues and bronzes until the acetone wash turned it into a homogenous blue. I’m assuming it’s either some sort of manganate or maybe a late transition metal complex. i don’t think it’s magic blue because pretty sure that doesn’t make patterns like this one. i’m not looking for an ID because i’m concerned or worried about toxicity, mostly just curious because it’s super pretty tbh (and also it stains) submitted by /u/europeanseabass |
