It’s the end of an era. OnePlus will no longer sell phones in the US or Europe
OnePlus will no longer launch new products in North America or Europe, it has been announced.
The news won’t come as a surprise to many, as rumors of the brand’s demise have spread for a surprisingly long time. However, this doesn’t make it any less of a shock, or bad news for the industry.
The end of an era
The announcement of OnePlus’s demise comes from Oppo, which has shared research and development, software, and other business aspects with it since the two entered into a dual-brand partnership in 2022.
Both companies were part of the now defunct BBK Electronics empire, along with Realme, Vivo, and iQoo. Despite a complicated structure, the brands have operated independently for years, while sharing some elements, such as software and battery charging technology, between them.
Oppo said OnePlus’s exit from Europe and the US was a ‘strategic decision to focus our efforts,’ and was not one taken lightly. It also said it was not an Oppo instruction, nor was it a unilateral decision taken by OnePlus.
Oppo summed up its strategic focus by saying it wants to make sure, ‘the right brand does the right thing in the right market.’
What does this mean for OnePlus owners?
If you’re reading this on a OnePlus 15, a OnePlus Pad Lite, or any other OnePlus device, you’re probably wondering what this means for you.
Oppo says your rights and its service commitments are unchanged.
After-sales support, warranties, and software updates remain fully guaranteed, so you can continue using and enjoying your OnePlus device, knowing it’ll be the last one you’ll be able to purchase brand-new.
Also note, this news applies to North America and Europe. When questioned about other regions, Oppo had the following to share:
To further consolidate resources and enhance global product strategy synergy, Realme will focus on overseas markets and no longer launch new products in China. OnePlus’ product roadmap in China remains unchanged. Both Realme and OnePlus will continue to deliver premium gaming and performance experiences to users.
Will Oppo phones come to the US?
If OnePlus will no longer exist in the US, does this mean Oppo is preparing to launch its devices — such as the superb Oppo Find X9 Ultra, the Oppo Find N6, or the Oppo Reno16 series — in its place?
Unfortunately not. When asked, Oppo said:
We do not have any product plans for North America. But Oppo is continuously evaluating and exploring new opportunities in all regions around the world. We hope that in the future we can bring more excellent products and services to users globally.
The OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15R, both released at the end of 2025, will be the brand’s final devices sold new in the US. It’s the second brand to leave smartphones behind in 2026, following Asus’s long-term pause of the ROG Phone series in January.
