League of Legends Releases Highly Anticipated Classic Game Mode

A while back, there was a leak talking about the League of Legends Classic mode that would be arriving on the third Season of 2026. While this wasn’t meant to get out to the public, Riot Games confirmed the rumours and continued with the traditional marketing plans that they had, releasing a silly video to talk about it.
Then, after the MSI tournament passed, we were finally given far more information about the arrival of League of Legends Classic. In the Dev Update following that, we learned everything about the game mode, which was a highly exciting announcement for players — veterans and newcomers alike.

Now, on the 29th of July 2026, with the launch of Patch 26.15, the League of Legends game mode has launched! This features all sorts of content, including bringing back the old Rune and Mastery systems, bringing back champions before their reworks, and even bringing back some of the classic looks that they used to have.
It’s worth noting that League of Legends Classic isn’t necessarily one single patch, but rather an assortment of them, all at once. We wrote an article about everything you need to know about League of Legends Classic, if you want to learn more about the game mode.
