Metro by T-Mobiles plans start at $40/month
Metro by T-Mobile’s prepaid plans show you that you don’t need to be locked into a long-term contract to get unlimited data at actual value.
The brand has three prepaid line options, including the $40/month plan, the $50/month plan with AutoPay and the $60/month plan. All three include unlimited talk and text and 5G data, plus T-Mobile Tuesdays deals and Scam Shield, so you don’t have to worry about random numbers getting through your cell.
That said, what plan you do end up choosing will depend on how you use your data. Are you someone who scrolls and texts a lot, or are you someone who needs a hotspot so you can work on the go?
Below, we break down the three Metro by T-Mobile prepaid plans and where the added value really starts to show.

Pros:
- Lowest monthly price among Metro’s main unlimited prepaid plans
- Includes unlimited 5G data, talk and text (Unlimited data if using less than 35GB/mo. May notice reduced speeds after that)
- No secret fees
Cons:
- No hotspot data included
- No Google One storage
- No Amazon Prime perk
- Speeds may slow after 35GB if the network is busy
This is the most straightforward and best value plan out of the three. It offers unlimited 5G data, unlimited talk and text (taxes and fees included), T-Mobile Tuesdays, Scam Shield and a 5-year price guarantee.
The biggest selling point? The simplicity. There are no secret fees, no tied-down contract and it’s got a predictable monthly price, which really sets it apart from other plans on the market.
The trade-off is that the plan is light on extras, so don’t expect a Google One membership or Amazon Prime. You may also experience slower speeds if you use more than 35GB per month.

Pros:
- Includes 8GB of hotspot data
- Comes with 100GB of Google One storage
- Taxes and fees are included
- Higher data threshold than the $40 plan before possible slowdowns
Cons:
- Costs $10 more per month
- Does not include Amazon Prime
- First month is $55 before AutoPay pricing kicks in
This plan is listed at $55 for the first month, then $50/month with AutoPay, and includes unlimited 5G data, unlimited talk and text, T-Mobile Tuesdays, Scam Shield, 8GB of hotspot data, 100GB of Google One storage and upgrades included on phones.
The benefit of this option is that it comes with hotspot data and a Google One membership, which I personally use to store all my documents and notes on the cloud.
Yes, this plan is $10 more expensive, but given that it comes with hotspot data and Google One storage, this plan is the most balanced one on the list.
There is one caveat: If you use more than 50GB of data in a month, Metro says you may temporarily notice slower speeds when the network is busy.

This one is the most premium plan offered. It is listed at $65 for the first month, then $60/month with AutoPay. It includes unlimited premium 5G data, unlimited talk and text, 25GB of hotspot data, 100GB of Google One storage, Amazon Prime, unlimited international texting to more than 210 countries, upgrades included on phones, T-Mobile Tuesdays, Scam Shield and of course, taxes and fees are included.
This plan really shines with its benefits. It offers Amazon Prime and 25GB of hotspot data as well. If you’re constantly on the go, traveling or like to work during your commute, this is the plan to choose. Yes, it’s the most expensive option, but the fact that it comes with Amazon Prime included is already saving you around $15/month, which makes this a great deal.
