New Resident Evil Movie Trailer Is Creepy And Full Of Easter Eggs From Capcom’s Horror Series

Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a new trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot directed by Zach Cregger, and while the jury’s still out on whether it’s actually a good movie or not, it does manage to establish quite a chilling atmosphere. Oh, and there’s a couple of nice nods to the games too via some Easter Eggs.
Eagle-eyed fans will be able to spot a couple of items that are found in the games, including a typewriter (used to save your progress in many of the games) and some shotgun shells in a green box featuring the text ‘heavy field,’ which is the same design as those seen in the original Resident Evil 4.
Check out the trailer below.
Resident Evil arrives in cinemas on September 16, 2026. The film is the first live-action entry in the franchise since 2021’s Resident Evil Welcome To Raccoon City, and follows medical courier Bryan as he finds himself caught up in a series of horrific events while on a job to Raccoon City General Hospital. It’s not clear yet, but presumably the events of the film take place parallel to the T-Virus outbreak seen in Resident Evil 2 and 3.
