NXP Semiconductors is in talks to buy Ambarella for $3.3 billion to own the camera chips powering self-driving cars

NXP Semiconductors is in acquisition talks with Ambarella, the designer of AI vision chips used in autonomous vehicle camera systems, in a deal the Financial Times values at around $3.3 billion. The move would fill a critical gap in NXP’s ADAS portfolio as the auto-chip industry consolidates around full-stack autonomous driving platforms.
