Over 1,400 Pakistani Medical Graduates Secure U.S. Residency Placements: PMDC

More than 1,400 Pakistani medical graduates have secured placements in the United States residency program, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan’s medical education sector, according to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

In a statement issued on Saturday, the PMDC attributed the achievement to ongoing reforms aimed at improving medical education standards, updating curricula, strengthening clinical training, and aligning local education with international benchmarks.

The council said the growing number of Pakistani doctors entering U.S. residency programs reflects their increasing global competitiveness and preparedness for international licensing examinations.

According to PMDC, Pakistani medical graduates are gaining greater recognition worldwide, with their success rates improving significantly compared to previous years. The council noted that Pakistani doctors are increasingly competing alongside graduates from traditionally larger applicant pools, including India.

PMDC said its recent reforms have focused on quality assurance, competency-based learning, enhanced clinical exposure, and regulatory improvements to better prepare graduates for international healthcare systems.

PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj described the achievement as a proud moment for the country, saying the success of Pakistani doctors reflects the combined efforts of students, educators, medical institutions, and regulatory reforms.

He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to further improving medical education standards and expanding opportunities for Pakistani graduates to excel in healthcare systems around the world.

The PMDC added that the achievement highlights Pakistan’s growing contribution to the global medical workforce and reinforces the country’s progress in producing internationally competitive healthcare professionals.
