Pakistan’s Mobile Operators Record Highest-Ever Monthly ARPU During 1st Quarter of 2026

Pakistan’s mobile operators have achieved their highest-ever average monthly revenue per user (ARPU), reaching Rs346 during the January-March 2026 quarter. The increase reflects stronger spending on mobile data services and digital offerings, even as consumers continue to face economic challenges.

According to official industry data, the combined monthly voice and data ARPU rose from Rs326 in the October-December 2025 quarter to Rs346 in the January-March 2026 quarter. This marks a 6.1 percent quarter-on-quarter increase.

On a yearly basis, ARPU also showed strong growth. It increased by nearly 11 percent compared with Rs312 recorded during the same quarter in 2025.

The latest figures highlight a consistent rise in telecom operators’ earnings from each subscriber over the past three years. Monthly ARPU has grown steadily from Rs244 in the April-June 2023 quarter to Rs346 in the latest reporting period. This trend suggests that operators are earning more from existing customers by encouraging greater use of mobile internet and digital services rather than relying solely on adding new subscribers.

The growth also reflects the telecom industry’s increasing focus on data consumption. As demand for video streaming, social media, online gaming, digital payments, and other internet-based services continues to grow, mobile users are spending more on data packages and value-added services.

Higher ARPU is expected to improve the financial position of telecom companies. Increased revenue per subscriber can help operators invest in expanding their networks, improving service quality, and deploying fibre infrastructure. It can also support future investments in next-generation technologies and digital infrastructure.

The improvement comes at a time when Pakistan’s telecom sector continues to face rising operating expenses, inflation, currency pressures, and a heavy tax burden. Despite these challenges, the steady increase in ARPU indicates that operators have been able to generate more revenue from their customer base through better monetisation of mobile data services.

Industry experts believe that maintaining this trend will be important for funding future network upgrades and meeting the country’s growing demand for faster and more reliable digital connectivity. With subscriber growth slowing in a mature market, increasing revenue from existing users is becoming a key strategy for telecom companies operating in Pakistan.
